Retention of wills

For the safe storage of wills, it is advisable to deposit the will with the cantonal depository for wills and inheritance contracts.

Waltraud and the safe storage of wills

Waltraud Weltenbummler:

When all this crap with Corona is finally over, I’m going on a long-awaited trip around the world. But before that, I would like to settle my affairs just in case and draw up a will. Do you have any tips on how I should keep the will?

Answer:

Hello Waltraud

You could, for example, keep your will at home in an envelope labeled “Will” with your bank or tax documents. It may also make sense to involve a trusted person and also give them a copy of the will.

However, we recommend depositing the will with the cantonal depository for wills and inheritance contracts. Your will will be stored there securely for a small fee. A will is then automatically opened on your death.

Your municipal administration can tell you which authority in your canton is responsible for storage.

Keeping dogs on a chain: the deceptive gap between federal law and cantonal practice

The tethering of dogs is a legal minefield. While federal law theoretically permits tethering under strict conditions, some cantonal veterinary authorities are cracking down and effectively banning permanent tethering. In this article, you will find out why the “5-hour rule” and technical measures often do not protect you from criminal proceedings and why you should opt for alternatives in the canton of Zurich.
