Tom and lame left-hand drivers
Tom Tempo:
On the highway, I often get annoyed by lame drivers on the left who occupy the overtaking lane even though the right lane is free. As a rule, I drive up to them so that they let me pass. Can I do that?
Answer:
Hello Tom
As a rule, you are not allowed to do this. If you drive too close to the vehicle in front of you for longer than a very short time and do not keep a sufficient distance (“2-second rule” or “half speedometer rule”), you are liable to prosecution.
Passing on the right has recently been permitted in certain situations. However, overtaking on the right (changing lanes after passing) remains prohibited. However, “snails” who drive unnecessarily on the left endanger road safety themselves with their behavior and violate road traffic regulations. In extreme cases, you can have lame left-hand drivers recorded by a passenger, for example, and report them to the police.
