Omar Ghafier grew up in Thurgau and studied law at the University of Fribourg.
After many years of professional experience at university, in a law firm and at cantonal courts of first and second instance, he switched to the legal profession in 2024.

Studied at the University of Freiburg, graduating with a Master of Law in 2016. Admission to the Zurich bar in 2023.

- 2020 to 2023: Clerk at the District Court of Winterthur
- 2016 to 2019: Assistant to the Chair of International Criminal Law at the University of Freiburg
- 2015 to 2020: Assistant at Distance Learning Universities Switzerland
